🌲 Nurturing Dreams from the Forest: Phase 2 Success 🚀
The third season of the initiative “Nurturing Dreams from the Forest” (Ươm giấc mơ từ rừng xanh) has successfully concluded its second phase. This initiative is a collaborative effort, organized by the ABG Leadership Institute and the ABG Alumni Association, in partnership with the ASEAN Foundation and Maybank through the Empowering Youth Across ASEAN (EYAA Cohort 5) program. The activities took place at Mon Son 2 Primary School.
This critical second phase focused on several core activities:
Enhancing Digital Access: Equipping a dedicated computer lab with stable internet and digital teaching/learning devices for both teachers and students.
Boosting Teacher Capacity: Providing training to educators on applying AI, blended learning, and technology in lesson planning and classroom management.
Fostering Conservation Awareness: Integrating environmental education, focusing on nature, forests, and wildlife into English, STEAM activities, and interactive experiences for students.
During this second mission, we had the invaluable opportunity to reach both sub-campuses: Bản Cò Phạt and Bản Búng, which are considered deep within the core zone of Pù Mát National Park in Nghệ An. Our goal extended far beyond simply delivering computers, internet access, or extracurricular activities; the program is driven by a profound desire to ignite a passion for learning and broaden the horizons of digital knowledge for both the children and their teachers.

🌟 Activities Driving Transformative Change
In Phase 2, the computer lab at the main campus was fully established. It now features 20 desktop computers, 5 laptops, a large TV, and a stable network connection, ready to serve the daily needs of 405 students and 38 teachers. The equipment configuration was tailored to the teachers’ needs, ensuring they can conduct lessons at the main campus while also having the flexibility to utilize the laptops to support the two remote sub-campuses at Bản Búng and Cò Phạt.
Key training and experiential activities included:
Teacher Empowerment: Training 38 teachers on the practical application of AI, blended learning, instructional methods, and classroom management, led by experts from the ABG Alumni network.
Student Engagement: Organizing a series of English and STEAM exploration activities for approximately 450 students across all three locations. These activities creatively combined storytelling about nature and wildlife with hands-on science games, robotics, and IQ puzzles.
Community Dialogue: Conducting interview sessions and dialogues with teachers, students, and volunteers to gather crucial feedback, allowing us to continuously adapt the content to meet specific local needs.
🌱 A Sustainable Development “Nurturing” Plan
To ensure a lasting impact, ABG is collaborating closely with the school administration to develop a comprehensive plan for utilizing and maintaining the computer lab. For the first three months, ABG will provide close mentorship, gradually transferring full ownership to the teachers. The Information Technology teachers and specialized teams will then independently organize professional development sessions, sharing their experiences with applying AI and technology throughout the school.

Moving forward, ABG plans to:
Develop a professional competency training framework for teachers (in English and Science), to be implemented through online classes and workshops starting in late 2025.
Establish a series of virtual exchange activities between Môn Sơn students and English-speaking volunteers on topics like ASEAN culture, environmental protection, resource conservation, and scientific discovery via STEAM.
Expand the computer lab into a “shared learning hub,” where teachers and staff from neighboring schools can visit to learn, practice, and collaboratively organize educational activities.
This initiative is a direct contribution to bridging the educational disparity between urban and remote areas by expanding access to technology, English, and science for children living in the Pù Mát National Park region of Nghệ An. The project aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through building teacher capacity and student learning opportunities, SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by prioritizing students in remote and ethnic minority areas, and SDG 15 (Life on Land) by enhancing awareness of forests and wildlife conservation.

📢 A Message from ABG
Through our journey at Môn Sơn, ABG reaffirms its conviction: every child, no matter how remote their location, deserves access to modern technology and a learning environment that sparks their dreams. Investing in teachers, the true leaders of the classroom is the ultimate key to spreading sustainable value that endures long beyond a short-term initiative.
ABG is committed to continuing its collaboration with both domestic and international partners to:
Join hands to narrow the digital divide between urban and rural students, especially within ethnic minority communities.
Integrate technology education with conservation education, ensuring that every lesson not only delivers knowledge but also nurtures a love for the forest, nature, and a sense of responsibility for the environment.
Develop Mon Son 2 Primary School into a best practice model that can be replicated and scaled to support other disadvantaged schools in the future.
We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to our exceptional partners: the ASEAN Foundation, Maybank, and the Empowering Youth Across ASEAN (EYAA) Program. Their unwavering support for the initiative, even through the challenges of splitting it into two extended phases, was crucial. Their trust in this Vietnamese project:the first to join the EYAA network, has mobilized not only ABG, our volunteers, and project experts, but also the students, teachers, staff, and parents to collectively put forth their best efforts.

ABG also acknowledges the tremendous efforts and dedication of the teachers, parents, and students of Mon Son 2 Primary School. Our appreciation also goes to the management teams at the Border Guard Post (Đồn Biên Phòng), the Pù Mát National Park Management Board, and the Save Wild Life organization, as well as the local people in Mon Son Commune, for providing essential logistics and professional assistance. This support was instrumental in ensuring the program’s seamless execution and establishing a lasting vitality.
Once again, we wish to express our profound thanks to all the young people who tirelessly contributed to “Nurturing Dreams from the Forest Season 3.” ABG firmly believes that these hands-on experiences, witnessing real stories and collaboratively finding solutions that genuinely benefit the community-have allowed us to mature and connect more deeply. Because education is a journey of positive impact that fosters human development, we will continue to keep the fire lit for all future journeys, together.
